Performing Arts Association is the private-not-for profit in Saint Joseph that presents professional touring shows at the Historic Missouri Theater. Due to the current health situation, we have not been able to have live shows in the theater. Therefore, we are pivoting to outside neighborhoods and working with local and regional musical groups.
We are hosting Arts on the Move the first Sunday and following Saturdays during the month of October at 3:00PM. We will be showing up in various neighborhoods around town and offering live music.
Our goal is to raise awareness of the Performing Arts as we provide socially distanced entertainment. We welcome residents in the neighborhoods to come out, set up a lawn chair and be entertained. This is a free event; however, donations will be accepted. Lemonade and hot apple cider drink kits will be available for sale.
All performances begin at 3:00 pm in the following neighborhoods:
Proceeds of this event will help benefit the Saint Joseph Performing Arts Association, and provide funds to continue to ensure that quality nationally touring shows can be brought to the historic Missouri Theater.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we've had to move two of our shows to next season and seating will be in sections rather than specific seats. However, as you can see above, we've got a great line-up of shows for our 42nd Performing Arts Season in 2020-2021 at Saint Joseph's Historic Missouri Theater. Awesome music, dance, comedy, and more. Stay tuned to our website and posts on Facebook and Twitter for more information about our live performances!
Purchase tickets to all 4 shows and receive a 10% Discount.

As part of our Education Series, we are bringing the Mesner Puppet Theater and their presentation of The Cat Came Back. Based on the folk song made popular by Fred Penner, this performance tells the tale of Mister Johnson and a mysterious cat who keeps returning to his doorstep. Mister Johnson tries everything he can to get the cat to go away, from giving her to a pilot to sending her into outer space. The cat, however, keeps coming back!
